பள்ளித் தலம்
நேற்று Back to School Night ! செப்டம்பரில் பள்ளிக்கூடம் திறந்ததும் இந்த சம்பிரதாயம் ஒரு சுப முகூர்த்த மாலையில் நடக்கும். பெரிய ஹாலில் ஏழு மணி போல பெற்றோர்கள் திரள்வார்கள். PTA என செல்லப் பெயர் கொண்ட பெற்றோர் ஆசிரியர் சங்கத்தின் (Parents Teachers Association) பட்ஜெட் தாக்கல் இந்த நிகழ்ச்சியின் முக்கிய நோக்கம்.
குழந்தைகளைப் படிக்க வைப்பது, படுக்க வைப்பது (Sleeping vs Education) குறித்த பல பிட் நோட்டீஸ்கள் ஹாலுக்குச் செல்லும் முன் வராந்தாவிலேயே கிடைக்கும். அவற்றை மேய்ந்து முடிப்பதற்குள் கூட்டம் தொடங்கி விடும். முதல்வர் வரவேற்புரை வழங்கின பின் PTA தலைவர் சென்ற வருடத்திய செலவுக் கணக்கையும், இந்த வருடத்துக்கான பட்ஜெட்டையும் விவரிப்பார்.
PTA பள்ளிகளுக்கான டெக்னாலஜி உபகரணங்கள் வாங்கிப் போடுகிறது. குழந்தைகளின் திறமைகளைக் கூர் தீட்ட பல்வேறு After School பயிற்சிகள் நடத்துகிறது. அருங்காட்சியகம் போன்ற இடங்களுக்கு களப் பயணங்கள் ஏற்பாடு செய்கிறது. அரசு பள்ளிகளின் தரத்திற்கும் PTA-வின் பண பலம் மற்றும் செயல்பாடுகளுக்கும் நெருங்கிய தொடர்புள்ளது.
நான் பார்த்த வரை எந்த வித விவாதங்களும் இன்றி கூட்டம் பட்ஜெட்டுக்கு ஒப்புதல் அளிக்கிறது. அதைத் தொடர்ந்து பள்ளி முதல்வர் ஆசிரியர்களை அறிமுகம் செய்கிறார். Back to School Night-ன் Second Half, உங்கள் குழந்தை படிக்கும் வகுப்பறையைப் பார்வையிடுவது.
நீங்கள் வருவதறிந்து மதியமே குழந்தைகள் தத்தம் பெற்றோருக்கு ஒரு வரவேற்புக் கடிதம் எழுதி தனது மேஜையில் வைத்திருக்கின்றன. ஒவ்வொரு பெற்றோரையும் கை குலுக்கி அறிமுகம் செய்து கொண்ட பின், காலை முதல் மாலை வரை உங்கள் குழந்தைகள் பள்ளியில் என்னென்ன செய்கிறார்கள். இந்த வருடம் என்ன கற்கப் போகிறார்கள், எப்படிக் கற்பிக்கப்படப் போகிறார்கள், நீங்கள் வீட்டில் அதற்கு எந்த வகையில் உதவ முடியும் என்பவற்றை ப்ரொஜெக்டரில் ஸ்லைடு ஷோ போட்டு விவரிக்கிறார் வகுப்பாசிரியர்.
குழந்தை, ஆசிரியர் மற்றும் பள்ளி மீது மிகுந்த நம்பிக்கை பிறக்க நீங்கள் வீட்டுக்குச் செல்கிறீர்கள்.

You can question the budget, and if time permits participate not only in PTA budget, but also school district, County budget meetings. We can offer ideas, sugesttions etc. I do not see any Indians actively participate and discuss what their community needs. In Edison parents come and attend and manage to have day of dewali declared as a schol holiday, include Hindi as a language of choice, got $40,000 allocated to it. I am trying to get as many parents as possible to participate in their home town on these key issues.

மகளின் பள்ளிக்கூட ஆசிரியர் சந்திப்புக்கு சென்றபோது, இசை, உடல்நலம், உடற்பயிற்சி அறைகளைத் தொடர்ந்து ஓவியக்கலை பக்கம் எட்டிப் பார்த்தேன். உள்ளே இருந்த பதாகைகளும், ஆசிரியரும் என்ன சொல்லித் தருகிறோம், எவ்வாறு கற்றுத் தருகிறோம் என்பதை விளககியது. அப்போது கண்ணில் பட்ட போஸ்டர்கள், என்னுடைய வலைப்பதிவு (;)) மனதைக் கொஞ்சம் உறுத்தியது

@Padma: I have visited county public hearing just to get a feel of how constitution system works here. It was not that easy to get approvals as in the school PTA meetings. But it was interesting experience.

Thanks for attending it. I want more more Indians attend these meetings and raise questions as we fall in high tax paying population % vise. January visit your County ofice and get a copy of all freeholders meeting. There will be two meetings with budget presentation. This is on all depts including road development to education. Then study the copy and go for public hearing. It will be very interesting. I am on the otherside usually prepared for public questions on why such an such pool gets 3 M and my kid does not get a decent meal in school or a gym why do you increase tolls and this contract for 3 M goes to the same firm each year etc.
