உமேஷ் கோபிநாத் Cleartrip தளம் பற்றி அடிக்கடி எழுதவே அங்கே சென்று பார்க்கும் ஆவல் எழுந்தது. இங்கே Expedia அல்லது SideStep தளங்களைப் போலவே இத்தளம் இந்தியாவின் வெவ்வேறு விமான நிறுவனங்களின் பயண விலையை தேடி தொகுத்துக் கொடுக்கிறது. அவர்கள் சேவையும் சிறப்பாகவே இருப்பதாக உமேஷின் வாசகர்கள் தரும் பின்னூட்டங்களின் வாயிலாக அறிய முடிகிறது.
கூடுதலாக Small World என்ற பகுதியையும் இத்தளம் நிர்வகிக்கிறது. நீங்கள் பயணிக்க இருக்கும் இந்தியாவின் பல்வேறு நகரங்கள் பற்றிய சிறு விபரங்களை இதன் மூலம் அறிந்து கொள்ள இயலும். அதில் சென்னை பற்றிய குறிப்பைப் பார்த்து சற்றே துணுக்குற்றேன்.
People in Chennai are generally averse to speaking in Hindi which makes it difficult to converse with the locals, especially if they are not conversant in English either.

அது தொகுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கும் இடம். சென்னை நகரத்தின் எரிச்சலூட்டும் அல்லது அசவுகர்யம் தரும் விஷயங்களில் ஒன்றாக இதைக் குறிப்பிட்டிருக்கிறது இந்த மும்பை நிறுவனம். ஒரு பகுதி மக்கள் அவர்கள் தாய்மொழியில் பேசிக்கொள்வதை எப்படி அசௌகர்யம் என்று கருதலாம் ?
இது போன்ற தகவல்களை கருத்தாக்கமாகத் தராமல் புள்ளி விபரங்களாகத் தருவது வியாபார நிறுவனங்களுக்கு நல்லது.
UPDATE: UPDATE: Looks like ClearTrip has changed the page and text. Now I see the following paragraph under Chennai:
“The preferred language of communication amongst the local population is Tamil. However, English is widely spoken as the language of commerce and English speaking visitors should have no problem getting around. The city also has a fair number of people that speak Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi.”

What you told is absolutely true. Even I have faced similar words from my colleagues here in Bangalore. I always tell them that we don’t require to speak hindi in TN as most of them speak tamil. After all chennai is known to be good to people who travel from outside our state and even country.
I wonder if Cleartrip has annoyance guide to other cities in the world, lets say people in Shanghai, Budapest or even London are reluctant to speak in Hindi. How annoying!

@Deepak: This topic is discussed in internet by individuals so many times and there is no end for this debate. I wanted to convey cleartrip or any other organization that this can only be an information to Indians speaking Hindi (or 20 other languages excluding Tamil and Hindi) or foreigners visiting Chennai, not annoyance.

this is not a valid point.
Regarding the clear trip remarks, the said words are due to the experience of the reporter or as the case may be. Let him be like that. We the tamilians continue to be as we are. Without knowing a language and visiting that country is a mistake on the visitor. Just because other language people are visiting, a tourist country cannot learn all other languages. They forgot one thing, That is “when you are Rome, you should be a romanian”. If you are not so, the mistake is yours only and not that of Rome’s. To avoid such irritations, the visitor should take atleast some simple steps to learn the language. Particularly in a diversified cultural / linguistic / ethnic country like that of ours, we should respect others culture, language, etc., and everybody should try to learn other language etc., and try to mingle with them. Otherwise intolerence will be growing within us without our knowlege
Stone, You are right. Nothing wrong in learning one more language basics if you have to visit the place.
